Previous Part

Part 19: Dressed to Pray!

(This is part 19 of 19 parts in this class)

What do prayer warriors wear? They wear the whole armour of God! Paul's exhortation on wearing the whole armour of God ends with an exhortation on prayer.

Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people).

Ephesians 6:18 - Amplified Bible

Paul exhorts us to all kinds of prayer activity in the Holy Spirit in all kinds of conditions. In preparation for this he exhorted us to put on the whole armour of God. The whole armour of God is our protective clothing so we can at all times engage in vigilant, effective and fervent prayer of every kind without hinderance or interruption.

Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit.

Luke 18:1 - Message Translation

As the astronaut has a space suit so the Christian has a prayer suit. Our prayer suit is called the whole armour of God. Our prayer suit allows us to continue praying even when the environmental conditions around us are inhospitable and hostile.

Have you got on the whole armour of God? Then pray! Pray in the Spirit! Pray with every type of prayer that the Bible by the Spirit has revealed. In the whole armour of God use all of your prayer tools. It is, in this way, that prayer becomes the weapon of our warfare that dramatically changes the spiritual climate and conditions around us. It is this, in part, that Paul is referring to when he writes,

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 - NKJV

By prayer you can pull down, cast down and bring into obedience. Besides this you are also to build up! You are to be vigilant to see how by prayer you can bring about the building up and maintenance of all your brethren (the saints) in the Lord. Paul gave us a clear lead in this. He watched out in the spirit for all the saints. (See Colossians 2:5) He vigilantly never ceased to intercede for them. (Colossians 1:9) He gave us a godly example to follow. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

Now it's your turn - be a prayer warrior in the the whole armour of God!
