Part 2: Walking on water

(This is part 2 of 9 parts in this class)

You say, "What has Jesus taking charge of circumstances got to do with me doing it? I'm not Jesus!"

This is true but what Jesus did His disciples found they could do too. Peter was such a disciple. Peter was a human being with a nature such as we have - that's evident to anyone who's read the Gospels. Nevertheless, on one word from Jesus, Peter stepped out of his boat and walked on water.

You can read the account of this awesome event in Matthew's Gospel.

Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, 'It is a ghost!' And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.' And Peter answered Him and said, 'Lord, if it is You, command me come to You on the water'. So He said, 'Come.' And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

Matthew 14:25-29 - NKJV

Look how Peter stepped right out of his boat in confidence he could walk on the sea! His faith in the word he had from Jesus - Jesus had said to him, "Come!" - was about to overrule the conditions of the walk. He walked on water just like Jesus!
